P0300

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0300 indicates that the engine control module (ECM) has detected a random or multiple cylinder misfire. This can occur due to a number of reasons and may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Engine runs poorly or not at all

  • Reduced engine power or acceleration

  • Rough idle or stalling

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty ignition system components (spark plugs, ignition coils, etc.)

  • Clogged fuel injectors or fuel filter

  • Low fuel pressure

  • Vacuum leaks

  • Faulty sensors, such as the engine coolant temperature sensor or oxygen sensor

  • Mechanical issues, such as low compression or a damaged valve train

Related Parts:

  • Crankshaft Position Sensor: The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position of the crankshaft to regulate fuel injection. Problems lead to engine misfire and engine stalling

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace any faulty ignition system components (spark plugs, ignition coils, etc.)

  • Clean or replace clogged fuel injectors or fuel filter

  • Check and repair any leaks in the vacuum system

  • Replace any faulty sensors, such as the engine coolant temperature sensor or oxygen sensor

  • Perform a compression test to check for mechanical issues

  • Replace any damaged or worn components in the valve train
