P0315

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0315 indicates that the engine control module has not learned the correct crankshaft position variation. This may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Hard starting or no start condition

  • Rough running or misfiring

  • Reduced engine power or acceleration.

Possible Causes:

  • Incorrect installation of the crankshaft position sensor

  • Failed crankshaft position sensor

  • Short or open circuit in the crankshaft position sensor wiring

  • Faulty engine control module (ECM)

  • Low battery voltage

  • Corroded or damaged electrical connections

Related Parts:

  • Crankshaft Position Sensor: The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position of the crankshaft to regulate fuel injection. Problems lead to engine misfire and engine stalling

Possible Solutions:

  • Re

  • install the crankshaft position sensor correctly

  • Replace the crankshaft position sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections in the crankshaft position sensor circuit

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary

  • Charge or replace the battery if voltage is low

  • Clean or repair any corroded or damaged electrical connections
