P0073

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0073 indicates that there is an issue with the circuit that controls the ambient air temperature sensor. This may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Poor fuel economy

  • Erratic or incorrect temperature readings

  • A/C may not work properly

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty ambient air temperature sensor

  • Corroded or damaged wiring in the circuit

  • Loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

Related Parts:

  • Ambient Air Temperature Sensor: This is usually located in the air inlet. It measures the outside air temperature. Problems here lead to engine stalling, lack of power and a noisy engine

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the ambient air temperature sensor

  • Check and repair any damaged wiring or connections

  • Tighten or clean any loose or corroded electrical connections

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
