Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) illuminated
Erratic or intermittent readings from the ambient air temperature sensor
Poor performance of the air conditioning system
Reduced fuel economy
Corroded or damaged wiring and connections
Failed ambient air temperature sensor
Faulty engine control module (ECM)
Short circuit in the circuit
Ambient Air Temperature Sensor: This is usually located in the air inlet. It measures the outside air temperature. Problems here lead to engine stalling, lack of power and a noisy engine
Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring and connections
Replace the ambient air temperature sensor if it is faulty
Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
Check for and repair any short circuits in the circuit
