P0091

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0091 indicates that the fuel pressure regulator control circuit is detecting a low voltage signal. This may cause the fuel system to not function properly, resulting in poor engine performance or even engine stalling.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Poor engine performance

  • Engine stalling or not starting

  • Reduced fuel efficiency

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty fuel pressure regulator

  • Damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the fuel pressure regulator circuit

  • Failed fuel pump

  • Malfunctioning fuel pressure sensor

Related Parts:

  • Fuel Pressure Regulator: Fuel pressure regulator controls the fuel pressure and returns any excess fuel to the tank. Problems lead to engine misfire, poor fuel economy & poor acceleration

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the fuel pressure regulator

  • Check and repair any damaged or corroded wiring or connections in the fuel pressure regulator circuit

  • Replace the fuel pump if necessary

  • Replace the fuel pressure sensor if necessary
