P0175

2017-10-10

Description:

  • The fault code P0175 indicates that the fuel system is providing too much fuel to the engine, causing it to run rich. This may lead to poor fuel economy, reduced engine performance, and increased emissions.

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Reduced fuel economy

  • Decreased engine performance

  • Strong odor of gasoline from the exhaust

  • Black smoke from the tailpipe

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty oxygen sensor

  • Clogged or dirty fuel injectors

  • Malfunctioning mass airflow (MAF) sensor

  • Leaking fuel pressure regulator

  • Defective evaporative emissions (EVAP) system

  • Vacuum leaks in the intake manifold or hoses

  • Failed engine control module (ECM)

Related Parts:

  • Fuel Injection System: Fuel injection system controls the amount of fuel to be delivered through the fuel injectors. Problems lead to engine misfire, engine stalling

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the faulty oxygen sensor

  • Clean or replace clogged fuel injectors

  • Clean or replace the malfunctioning MAF sensor

  • Replace the leaking fuel pressure regulator

  • Repair or replace the defective EVAP system

  • Check for and repair any vacuum leaks in the intake manifold or hoses

  • Replace the engine control module (ECM) if necessary
