2017-10-10

Description:

  • “The fault code P0301 indicates that there is a misfire detected in cylinder 1 of the engine. This may cause the engine to run poorly or not start at all.”

Possible Symptoms:

  • Illuminated check engine light

  • Engine runs poorly or not at all

  • Rough idle or stalling

  • Reduced engine power or acceleration

  • Increased fuel consumption

Possible Causes:

  • Faulty spark plug in cylinder 1

  • Failed ignition coil in cylinder 1

  • Clogged or dirty fuel injector in cylinder 1

  • Low compression in cylinder 1

  • Vacuum leak in cylinder 1

  • Faulty engine control module (ECM)

Related Parts:

  • Crankshaft Position Sensor: The crankshaft position sensor monitors the position of the crankshaft to regulate fuel injection. Problems lead to engine misfire and engine stalling

Possible Solutions:

  • Replace the spark plug in cylinder 1

  • Replace the ignition coil in cylinder 1

  • Clean or replace the fuel injector in cylinder 1
