Description:

  • Too low exhaust gas flowing through EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve

Possible Symptoms:

  • Engine idle problems

  • Transmission slippage or over-heating

  • The engine may display signs of in the form of knocking.

Possible Causes:

  • Restriction in the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) passages, usually caused by carbon buildup

  • The EGR Valve is defective

  • Lack of proper vacuum or electrical signal to the EGR valve

  • Malfunctioning EGR Vacuum supply solenoid

  • Lack of proper EGR system feedback to the computer

Related Parts:

  • Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR): Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is an emissions reduction technique used in petrol and diesel engines. Problems lead to harmful emissions out of limit

Possible Solutions:

  • If you do not hear the Air Pump Motor start, then check the SAS Air Pump and relay.

  • If you hear the motor, inspect the components that control the Air delivery such as the Check Valve Solenoid, then check Valve and the rubber hoses, metal piping and passages.

  • Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Eva purge solenoid

  • Check and/or replace the sensor
